Black Bear Food Guild

The Black Bear Food Guild is a small, motivated group of students at the University of Maine, growing three acres of organic vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Some of us are studying sustainable agriculture, some have grown up on farms, and for some of us, this is our first farming experience. However, we all share a common belief: sustainable, organic farming produces the best produce!

Meg specializes in a wide assortment of scones, including maple-glazed walnut, cranberry-blueberry, orange poppy seed, traditional cream, and other favorites. Her "sundries" vary from week to week and include muffins, mini Irish soda breads, and an array of cookies and biscotti. Customized orders and requests warmly invited. At market on Saturday throughout the season.

Ours is a family operation. We grow cut flowers, perennials, annuals, bulbs, everlastings & aquatic plants. All our vegetables & herbs are organically grown, including garlic, basil, sweet & specialty peppers, peas, and unusual heirloom tomatoes. We make handpainted gourd birdhouses and baked goods.

The Flower Farm

The Flower Farm grows and markets many varieties of field-grown cut flowers from our farm in Unity. We have plots of both annuals and perennials from which we pick flowers at the perfect time to ensure that our garden bouquets last from 5-7 days in the vase. We deliver fresh flowers to individuals and businesses in the Unity/Belfast area throughout the summer and strive to satisfy our customers' flower needs for weddings and other special occasions. Many varieties are dried throughout the season so that by September we have a large selection of everlastings to sell as mixed bouquets or as bunches of individual varieties so that customers can create their own bouquets. See us at the Orono Farmers' Market from July to October!

Gaia's Garden Song

We sell handcrafted natural soaps made using a blend of vegetable oils, natural pigments, flower blossoms, grains and pure essential oils. We also use medicinal herbal oils made from plants grown in our gardens. These oils make up our healing salves used to nourish your chapped skin, diaper rash, cuts and burns as well. We also offer culinary and medicinal herbal starts for your garden along with some vegetable starts.

We are a group of young farmers working 1-2 acres with organic permaculture methods. We'll have seedlings from our greenhouses for sale with some early veggies. We grow almost every vegetable (especially tomatoes, salad mixes and garlic) also culinary and medicinal herbs, sprouts, cut flowers, baked goods, and gourmet edible mushrooms. We grow and/or wildcraft herbs to make a variety of teas, tinctures, salves, oils, bath products, and herbal sachets. We also offer shiatsu massage (on site at market!) and original art. We'll be at market all season long, Tuesdays and Saturdays. We also attend the Waterville, Augusta and Belfast Farmers' Markets.


Mineral Spring Mushroom Farm

We are a family owned and operated farm located on Rt. 2 in Newport. We operate a spawn laboratory and grow several varieties of organic mushrooms year round. In our lab we generate extracts of medicinal mushrooms. We also produce home grow kits, and varieties of spawn for gardeners. Stop in or come to our open house Oct. 8. We also attend the Belfast and Portland Farmers Markets.

Rogue Sunflower Farm

Since 1998 we have been growing about ½ acre of mixed gardens and small animal area. We raise dairy goats (not in production yet), poultry and a few pigs, plus a large vegetable patch. We grow tomatoes, mixed vegetables, and sunflowers. We get 2-4 dozen fresh eggs per week and plan to make wheat bread and/or sweet breads. We also will be offering about 100 oak tree seedlings.

This is our first year growing a 3 acre garden organically on the Bacon Road in Charleston. We purchased the land last summer after returning east from the west, where we farmed for six years and participated in weekly farmers' markets. We hope to be growing a mixture of vegetables & cullinary herbs. Our primary production will be fresh & dried herbs as well as herbal blends,potted herb plants, herbal bath and massage oils and some medicinal herbs. Organic certification is being applied for through MOFGA. June to November, Saturdays & Tuesdays.

Sheepscot Flower Farm

Our farm is located on 5 acres in the village of Sheepscot, just 3 miles off Route 1 in the town of Newcastle. We offer a wide variety of cut flowers by the stem or in generous bouquets. Specialty cut flowers are our primary line and our blooms are available May through October. We will start the season off with a huge crop of long stem French Tulips in mid-May, followed by delphinium, peonies and Gerber Daisies arrive at the market in June. Sweet peas, lisianthus, monkshood, zinnias, gladiolas, sunflowers and may more arrive through mid-season. Attending the market on Tuesdays.

Sugar Mouse Sorbets
New member for 2007!

Sugar Mouse Sorbet is traditional Ecuadorian sorbet made using a bronze "paila" (similar to a wok). The sorbet is hand churned in the paila over a bed of ice and straw. The ingredients used are: fruit, a small amount of egg white, sugar and water. Fruit will be organic and from Maine when possible. We will produce on a small scale and bring several gallons to market while the rest will be produced on site. We'll be at market in June, July and August on both Tuesdays and Saturdays.
