Visit the Orono Farmers' Market at the University Steam Plant
Parking Lot on College Avenue in Orono, Maine. The market is located between College Avenue and
the Stillwater River, less than a mile north of downtown Orono. Now in it's fourteenth year, the
2008 Orono Farmers' Market is one of Maine's larger markets with over twenty-five members offering
a wide range of locally produced foods on Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoons. As in most
other farmers' markets in Maine, all of the goods for sale must be the result of the vendor's own
effort. And remember, you make a difference each time you support a local farmer. |

Want to join the market? While applications are open
to anyone who would like to apply, for 2008 we are especially seeking honey, seafood and more
fruit and berries. Everything offered for sale at market must be produced by market members themselves.
For an application or for more information, contact Hanne Tierney, 74 Dogtown Road, Palmyra 04965, ph.
487-5945, cell: 416-2676, email: hanne@cornerstonefarm.us, or Mark Guzzi, 25 Peacemeal Lane, Dixmont 04932,
257-4103, peacemeal@midmaine.com or you can download the Market
application, Market Rules and Market By-Laws here. The meeting to entertain
new applications is on the second Saturday in March, and new applicants are required to attend.

Special Events. At various times throughout the
season, a "Taste of the Market" table will be set up offering free samples of hot and
cold dishes prepared with the seasonal farm produce available at Market. In late August there will be a
"Tomato Tasting Day" where market shoppers are offered samples of fresh tomatoes of all
colors, shapes and flavors -- including information on which farmer grew which variety.
As the season approaches we will try to post a more complete list of Special Events to be held during market season.
