Randy grew up in the Maine
woods hunting, fishing, and trapping since he was a little boy.
After returning home from the military in 2009, Randy wanted to find
work that was both rewarding and imbedded outside. He headed back
home to Maine via the Appalachian Trail, starting in Georgia, and
through-hiked to the Green Mountains in Vermont. From there he
returned home to save some of the best views and moments to be
shared with family and friends. The four months of hiking, and the
desire to return to the woods and fields he had left prior to his
service encouraged him to pursue becoming a Registered Maine Guide.
At the same time he became certified as a Maine Animal Damage
Control Agent through Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The
guiding took Randy away from home longer than he would have liked.

Settling on 100 acres in
Winterport, there was forest, scrub and streams to explore. Many
projects were undertaken at the now Heritage Farms site, including
raising pigs, keeping bees, and maple syrup production. Finding they
had an amazing resource at their fingertips, the would be farm began
expanding. At the same time, in an attempt to save having to travel
for months at a time, Randy began taking classes and working towards
his degree in Wildlife Biology.

Randy’s wife Aislinn
currently works off-farm for Wagner Forest Management as the
business and farm grows. As if not enough things were going on,
their first son Nathaniel arrived on the scene in November 2011.
While most of the year Aislinn spends off farm working, the extra
work of a second job raising the boy while Randy is capitalizing on
daylight, and the third job of assisting in picking vegetables,
planting seeds, feeding animals, and encouraging sanity are vital to
the success of the operations.

Aislinn creates amazing
woodsman meals which fuel the work force and keep everyone happy.
You can find some of her recipes under our extracurricular
activities. Nathaniel is a little bugger who loves fresh vegetables.
Especially cucumbers and tomatoes. And cheesy poofs. It was timing
of his inclusion, and a heavy desire to continue working on the
property, that led to the formation of Heritage Farms, and the
melding of Maine
Wildlife Exclusion Services, and Family
Time Adventures into the year round operation that it is today.
