Our property was
selectively cut over between 2005-2007, leaving lots of sunlight to
reach the forest floors. These areas have become overrun with
berries as a result, and have become a valued food source not only
for ourselves but for all the woodland critters running around. We
process small batches of jams and jellies every year, and sell fresh
berries on request. At this time we have some wonderful patches that
are developing and we are looking to keep them in berry production.
These include:
Red Raspberry
Black
Raspberry
Blackberry
Boysenberry

Here is a nice link if
your getting confused about the berries, we sure were when we
started considering the differences in the language.

Most of the times we only
segregate the red raspberries from the black berries, whether they
are a rasp or not. The boysenberries grow huge and are incredibly
juicy, probably our second favorite to the red raspberry. We often
do not set aside boysenberries from the blacks though since so many
of plants are in large wild bramble patches. As well it seems that
most are hybrids of each other in one form or another. Through
future thinning and maintenance we hope to make easier picking areas
for increased production and ease of picking.

Due to the wild nature of
our brambles, the red raspberries fruits are much smaller than
domesticated cultivars. The time required to pick a comparable
amount of red raspberries to any others is about 4 times as long.
Therefore our red raspberry prices are slightly higher and tend to
sell out first due to limited availability. If you are interested,
we ask that you let us know so that we can make a note of it and
contact when they are available.
