Squirrels

In Maine three kinds of squirrels cause problems for people. They are the gray squirrels, red squirrels, and flying squirrels. Other than eating all the bird food before the birds can get any, the most common concern is squirrels inside the home.

Reds and grays often move into a home late in the year when they are looking for a place to hole up for the winter. Flying squirrels can take up residence any time of the year, and often in large numbers. It's not uncommon to remove a dozen or more flying squirrels from a site. Winter may find 8-10 red or gray squirrels in the home depending on whether young babies are present yet or not.

Considering the damage that squirrels can cause to insulation, structural components, and electric wires (which could result in fires), we strive to remove all squirrels present through lethal means, live trapping, and once they are removed, through exclusion.
