Maybe 30 years ago, Arthur Harvey made and sold replacement blades for Wheeler Orchard Saws. Have a look at these, made from bandsaw blades, and then check out the models and their specs. Arthur is someone worth sitting with and interviewing for his wealth of pomological knowledge. Besides having pruned commercial apple orchards for decades, he continues to harvest wild blueberries from his barrens. (The products that he and his wife Elizabeth sell are marketed as Betsy’s of Maine.) The top row of wider blades with rounded edges are what OESCO offers. Earlier models of these (as well as what Arthur sold), could be resharpened. I gave some of those to Shana Hansen and she was delighted. The rusty blade on the bottom, one that I picked up at a flea market, could be one of Arthur’s. Those thin, wonky blades in the center got bent from some cuts that I forced. Maybe folks could learn to make their own. Bandsaw stock is readily available and not that expensive.
