Miscellaneous Apple Discoveries

Sketchy notes for a sketchy little confused crab apple, on an unintentional fruit finding foray. Considerable coddling moth damage on these, I found only a few unblemished. How do you record your finds?

Below is another Bangor crab apple blowout. These apples were abundant and on the small size with a few reaching mid size where they had bigger spacing. The largest trunk in the picture is actually a native cherry tree. This seedling apple certainly has some chutzpah. Fruit is pretty good tasting, skin a little tough, but they showed little pest damage so cosmetically they rated pretty high.

Mary spotted this on a walk down a road that gives access to a couple of small gravel pits. There was just this one apple on a small tree that sat on the edge of a small clearing, kinda in the middle of nowhere, so it was rather surprising to come across. The texture of the interior was pretty irregular, but the color is certainly stunning. Mostly tart and worth grafting for observing another time.
